Lights FC calls Las Vegas home, and we couldn’t be more appreciative of those men and women who risk their lives every day to ensure our safety. We call them friends, we call them neighbors, but mostly we call them heroes. That’s a great way to describe those who are a part of the Las Vegas Metro Police Department and the Southern Nevada Firefighters.
The Metro Police Department and the Southern Nevada Firefighters consider themselves teammates on the streets of Las Vegas, but on Saturday, March 23rd they’ll consider themselves opponents as part of the annual “Guns N’ Hoses” soccer matchup, that this year will be contested at Cashman Field for the first time ever.
“Guns N’ Hoses is very near and dear to everyone involved and especially to all the players involved”, said Sonam Yarphel, Detective at LVMPD. “This is the one time of the year we can get together with the community and ‘just be soccer players’. It’s a fun way for the community to see that behind the badges, we are all just the same, one team one community”.
Bragging rights for their friendly rivalry will be on the line, that’s why the community of Las Vegas can expect an extremely competitive matchup between the badges that protect our city. Tickets for this event are only $15 and can be purchased at LightsFC.com/PoliceFire, with part of the proceeds benefiting local Fire & Police charities.
“This rivalry has been going on for over 2 decades! We each have tremendous respect for each other whether in uniform or in jerseys”, stated Jeff Halverson, Fire Engineer at Las Vegas Fire and Rescue. “Believe me, the bragging goes on in the streets on many occasions when we run calls together. It never gets old”.
Doors will open at 3 p.m. for this family friendly event, with kickoff scheduled for 4 p.m. Every ticket purchased for the Guns N’ Hoses match also includes a ticket for Lights FC’s next home game, which is “Salute to the Vegas Golden Knights” night at Cashman Field on March 30 when Las Vegas hosts Real Monarchs SLC.
