SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Despite a strong start on the road to kick off the final week of match action in the club’s inaugural season, Las Vegas Lights FC dropped a tough 3-1 decision to San Antonio FC Saturday night.
Lights FC’s moment of the night came early, as forward Sammy Ochoa notched a goal for the second time in three matches – his seventh of the season – in the 12th minute. After controlling possession near midfield, Rafael Garcia sent a perfect pass ahead on the break to Ochoa, who finished clean.
The visitors controlled the action for the better part of the first half, but Ever Guzmán was able to equalize for San Antonio FC just before the half, then put the hosts up for good in the 48th minute with his second score of the night.
The final score of the night for SAFC came in the 80th minute, as Lights FC again had tough luck finding the back of the net despite out-shooting its fourth straight opponent (12-11).
Saturday’s match was the first of three for Lights FC in the final week of its regular season schedule.
The final home match of 2018 will double as Fan Appreciation Night on Wednesday at 8 p.m. at Cashman Field. The night will feature available All-You-Can-Drink beer party passes, plus a post-match autograph session with the entire team on the pitch.
