Las Vegas Lights FC today announced that midfielder Edison Azcona has been called up by the Dominican Republic national team for the final two fixtures of the CONCACAF Nations League “B” group stage.
Azcona has been named as part of a roster that could go down in history as the first Dominican Republic side ever to qualify for the Gold Cup, CONCACAF’s premier national team competition, if they earn at least four points (one win and a draw) in their upcoming matches.
The midfielder has made eleven appearances for the Dominican Republic national team, playing 694 minutes between friendlies, World Cup qualifiers, and Nations League matches, giving out 3 assists in the process. The Lights midfielder has played in two matches of the present edition of the Nations League, providing an assist in a 5-0 routing of Antigua and Barbuda.
Azcona has 16 appearances and one assist in regular season action along with one assist across two Lamar Hunt US Open Cup matches earlier this year.
Lights fans can catch Azcona’s Dominican Republic side in action as they attempt to make history on the following dates:
Saturday, November 16 vs Dominica – 3:00 p.m. PT (Paramount+)
